de Quervain tenosynovialitis: details of the surgery
How is the surgery of a de Quervain disease performed?
The surgery starts with the skin incision. The skin incision can be across, or – as shown in the illustration – in “w” shape.
The illustration shows the just visible fat layer (yellow). In the fat layer under the skin (Subcutis), were venes and the suberficial radial nerve are located.
Deep under the fat layer, the 1. extensor tendon section. WIth the de Quervain disease, this canal is significantly thickened. The illulstration show the 1. extensor tendon section, after the fat layer has been disserted aside.
The illustration shows a clip, slid into the 1. extensor tendon section.
Above this clip, the 1. extensor tendon section is split!
This illustration shows the split 1. extensor tendon section. In the depth, the extensor tendons are visible.
